GAME IN MIND

is a brand new pilot initiative brought to you by FC Halifax Town and Invictus Wellbeing

Working together, we have developed a short-term project which brings together football, mental health and community connection. Football and Coaching will be led by Halifax Town and their professional coaching team whilst Invictus Wellbeing will provide its interventions through highly skilled and qualified mental health professionals.

What we aim to achieve

Waiting lists for mental health support are growing, young people’s mental health has worsened dramatically and as the national charity YoungMinds puts it, we are facing a mental health crisis. Therefore both locally and nationally, organisations are looking for innovative ways of improving mental health, building resilience and strengthening strong emotional wellbeing.

It is our belief that football can be an effective tool and vehicle for building confidence, self-esteem, community cohesion, resilience and importantly for this project, opening conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

What will you be doing?

3 x Sessions of 5-a-side and focused, peer led mental health interventions on specific issues such as anxiety, low mood, anger management and emotional regulation.

We then hope to support and signpost these young people into services, community clubs and to return to the Shay as a supporter.

When

3 x Wednesday evenings 5-6.45pm during February and March (TBC)

Where

The Shay Stadium, Shaw Hill, Halifax HX1 2YS
