I am a qualified Youth and Community worker and gained my Diploma in Professional studies in Youth and Community work through Huddersfield University.

My specialism is around domestic abuse, teenage relationship abuse, child sexual exploitation, young carers and young offenders. I am also able to adapt my skills appropriately to deal with a range of other issues that young people present and which may affect them at difficult times in their lives.

I have worked for the Local Authority Children’s Social Care since 2006. I am also trained in Restorative Justice. I have worked intensively with young people aged between five years and nineteen years of age around Calderdale and Kirklees for nine years in various settings, ranging from home, school and police cells.

I am also a mother to one child.

I began my career as an Art teacher but soon became involved in student behavioural aspects as a speciality and have worked in this field for most of my career. This pathway eventually led me onto running a Behavioural Referral Unit as a service for the local authority and effectively liaising with the children and Social Services Department alongside mental health officials and other stakeholders.

I have experience of working with students from multicultural backgrounds and over the years I have built up a passion for supporting young people to enable them to reach their full potential.

Recently I have been working as a mentor in a secondary school developing relevant therapy practices into a school setting.

I have a wealth of experience in student wellbeing which has been gained over a number of years.

I am a keen artist in my spare time and I am also a father to three girls.

I have worked previously as a Family support and Youth worker. This involved giving emotional and practical help and advice to parents on dealing with difficult behaviour and supporting children to learn through play and also supporting young people identify their potential and help them in their personal and social development. I have also worked with primary school children and my role involved managing and providing a caring and stimulating environment to give them added confidence prior to moving onto secondary school.

I am able to adapt my skills appropriately to deal with a range of other issues that young people present and which may affect them at difficult times in their lives.

I am a qualified Youth and Community worker and gained my BA (Hons) in Childhood and Youth Studies.

My strengths lie in my planning and problem solving abilities and use these techniques to guide and help children that may present with a range of diverse issues. I am able to adapt my skills appropriately to deal with a range of other issues that young people present and which may affect them at difficult times in their lives.
